2013 Eastern Regional Lenten Retreat 4/20/13

The 2013 Diocesan Eastern Regional Lenten Retreat took place on Saturday April 20, 2013 at Holy Ghost Orthodox Christian Church in Phoenixville, PA.

Hosted by the National SR ACRY, the event drew more than 20 teens and children and 66 adults.

His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa was the keynote speaker for the Adults and discussed the topic "Repentance and Confession"

The teens were treated to an interactive discussion on the topic "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" which was led by Mr. Theodore Nikolakis, the Chief Information Officer and the founder of Internet Ministries of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

The children, ages 12 and under met with Fr. Peter Zarynow of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Potomac Maryland. Together, they discussed the meaning of repentance and forgiveness.

In the afternoon session, His Grace met with the teens, continuing his theme of repentance and confession, specifically geared to them. Theo Nikolakis gave a presentation on the power of symbols in Orthodoxy and in contemporary culture. He also gave practical advice to the parents in attendance in helping their children to properly use technology, in a way that is consistent with the Orthodox Faith.
