2006 Diocesan Sobor Concludes

JOHNSTOWN, PA - The
20th Diocesan Council/Sobor of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox
Diocese which was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich, CT
concluded today, after three days of prayer, education, deliberation
and fellowship. Hosted by the New England Deanery, under the
chairmanship of the Very Rev. Luke Mihaly, Dean, the clergy, priest
wives, lay delegates and guests, came together as one diocesan family
to chart the course of the diocese for the next three years. Some of
the important issues addressed by the Sobor were the establishment of a
diocesan commission to study the feasibility of a diocesan wide group
health insurance plan and the election of lay Board of Trustees
members. A highlight of the Sobor, was the attendance of His Eminence,
Archbishop Demetrios, the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in
