ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN PRISON MINISTRY [OCPN] --We greet you in the surpassing joy of the Risen Christ. By the grace of God, we are blessed to observe the Sixth Sunday of Pascha, which this year falls on June 9, as Prison Ministry Awareness Sunday. We embrace the diakonia of prison ministry in keeping with the example of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, the Great Physician of our souls, who did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance; who ate in the houses of thieves and forgave the sins of harlots; and who said that, when we visit those in prison, we are in truth visiting Him, the Lord of Glory. AMBRIDGE, PA --- [National ACRY] It’s Memorial Day evening and I’m sitting down to try to recall some of the events of the past weekend at the 65th National ACRY Metropolitan Orestes Memorial Bowling Tournament, hosted by Chapter #7 – Ambridge. As always, I looked forward to seeing all of the many friends I’ve made over the years at previous ACRY events and was hopeful that this weekend would generate even more memorable moments that I could add to the mental list I’ve accumulated over the years. HERMITAGE, PA -- On Saturday May 18, 2013, His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, assisted by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Polanichka, Fr. David Mastroberte and clergy of the Youngstown Deanery and other Diocesan and local Orthodox parishes, consecrated the newly constructed St. John The Baptist Orthodox Church in Hermitage, PA. Michael has served the Lord and our Diocese honorably and faithfully for the more than 40 years of his worthy priesthood, most recently serving as Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese, member of the Diocesan Consistory, Dean of the New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC Deaneries, Editor of The Church Messenger, Chairman of the Diocesan Liturgical Music and Mission Commissions, and Pastor to the faithful of St. John The Baptist Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy, NJ. This year, the Bachelor of Theology Degree was awarded to Seminarian/ Sub-deacon William George. The Commencement Ceremony began with the celebration of the Moleben Service by Very Rev.
