Priestly Elevations on the Feast of the Protection of the Theotokos
JOHNSTOWN, PA -- On Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the conclusion of Great Vespers for the Feast of the Protection of the Theotokos, His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas recognized the priestly labors of two dedicated priest of the diocese.
The Very Rev. Father David Cochran, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church of Bridgeport, CT was elevated to the rank of Protopresbyter, with the privilege of wearing the Jeweled Pectoral Cross and the priestly Epignation. In bestowing the elevation upon Fr. David, His Eminence cited his service to the diocese in many capacities throughout his priestly ministry, including serving as Director of the Diocesan Altarboy Retreat Program and member of the Liturgical Music Commission and past service as Dean of the Johnstown Deanery, faculty member of Christ the Saviour Seminary and National Senior ACRY Spiritual Advisor.
The Rev. Fr. Stephen Loposky, the Administrator of Camp Nazareth and Diocesan Director of Youth, was elevated to the rank of Very Reverend, with the privilege of wearing the Gold Cross. His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas noted Fr. Stephen's exemplary service to the Diocese as parish priest at St. Mary's Church in Corning, New York and most recently as Director of Camp Nazareth and Interim Pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Erie, PA.
May God Grant His Servants the Very Rev. Protopresbyter David Cohran, and the Very Rev. Father Stephen Loposky, Peace Health and Salvation and Many More Years of Service in the Vinyard of the Lord.
