Diocesan Missions Commission Holds Initial Meeting

PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY – The newly formed Diocesan Missions Commission, established in response to renewed interest expressed at the XXI Diocesan Council to take the message of Holy Orthodoxy into areas without established Orthodox parishes, held their first meeting on Thursday, October 15th. The session was hosted by Protopresbyter Michael S. Rosco, Chairman of the Commission. Also in attendance were: Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Diocesan Chancellor; Pani Constance Miloro; Father Andrew Fetchina and Donald Lauffler.

Much fruitful discussion on mission activities and evangelization took place. An extensive study will take place throughout the country to determine which regions and geographic areas might be best suited for the establishment of a Diocesan mission. A manual will be prepared to assist newly organized missions, mapping out the steps that are needed to assist in their success. A fundraising campaign will be developed so that the Diocese may be in a position over the course of several years to literally build a church in these targeted communities. It is hoped that more information concerning the “Build It And They Will Come” Program can be announced in the near future. Tentative plans were also discussed for a “Missions Conference” in the spring at Camp Nazareth.
