Prayer Before Reading Holy Scripture
O Master Who loves mankind, illuminate our hearts with the pure light of Your divine knowledge and open the eyes of our mind to understand the teachings of Your Gospel. Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed commandments, that we may overcome all carnal desires, entering upon a spiritual life and understanding and acting in all things according to Your holy will. For You are the enlightenment of our souls and bodies, O Christ God, and to You we give glory together with Your eternal Father and Your all-holy, gracious and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.
Epistle Reading: Galatians 1:3-10
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord
Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us
from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who
called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,
which is not another; but there are some who trouble you
and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone
preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be
accursed.
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please
men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

the mountain, that a great multitude met Him.
Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, "Teacher,
I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child.
"And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out;
it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and bruising him, it
departs from him with great difficulty.
"So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could
not."
Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse
generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son
here."
And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and
convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and
gave him back to his father.
And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. But while
everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His
disciples,
