Sobor 2009- Tues-Wed July 14-15, 2009
An immense amount of work was accomplished for the Glory of God and the building up of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the U.S.A. on Tuesday and Wednesday July 14-15, 2009. Significant changes were made to the Diocesan By-laws, an updated clergy compensation plan adopted, the Diocesan Assessment was increased, and much fruitful discussion took place regarding the necessity to support our diocesan missionary work and the various Diocesan Apostolates. A highlight of the day was the unveiling of a new diocesan website which will be launched on or before August 17, 2009. Two new and four returning members of the Diocesan Board of Trustees were elected.

The Diocesan Deans concelebrated Liturgy with His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas.
Subdeacon Pawel from St. Silouan the Athonite Mission Parish of Toronto Canada spoke about the good works of St. John the Compassionate Mission and the newly created Lived Theology School, both of which are Apostolates of the Diocese.
Dr. Louis Patsavos, Distinguished Professor of Canon Law at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and Canonical Advisor to Metropolitan Nicholas gave an inspiring talk about the ecclesial nature of the local parish.
Deacon Robert Hubiak gave a presentation regarding a proposed increase in the Diocesan Priest Salary Scale.
Tuesday Evening's Grand Banquet began with the presentation of Flowers to His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios and His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas by children of the New Jersey Deanery.
His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was the keynote speaker at the Grand Banquet.

Wednesday Morning's general session began with an informative presentation on the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) by Mr. Kenneth Kidd, the Annual Gifts Officer.
Fr. Alexis Miller of Holy Transfiguration Mission of Crawfordsville Indiana offered words of gratitude to all diocesan parishes who assisted them with their recent parish building project.
The Election of Board of Trustees members was the last order of business.
