New Jersey Deanery Altarboy Retreat

On Saturday October 16, the New Jersey Deanery held a regional Altar Boy Retreat at Saint John the Baptist in Rahway, NJ. The Retreat began in prayer with the boys singing the responses. Next on the schedule was instruction on serving for the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts. Under the guidance of Protodeacon Gregory Benc, the boys learned how to make the entrances properly and how and when to make prostrations. After lunch, a video on the life of Saint Dionysius was shown and then the boys had some time to play a very energetic game of backyard soccer. The afternoon was occupied by a question and answer session held by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Rosco. This was followed with talks by the Deacon Kenneth Ellis and the Reverend Fr. Michael Chendorian on discerning Christ's call to serve the Church. The retreat was made complete at the celebration of Vespers. Reverend Fr. Andrew Fetchina, the host Pastor and Deacon Kenneth Ellis celebrated with all the Altar boys serving. The Very Reverend Fr. John Pribish and Reverend Fr. John Cmur kept the boys in order and on time for the entrance while Fathers Michael Rosco and Michael Chendorian led the singing.
