JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Pani Mary Jaczina Buletza, 96, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023 in the comfort of her home where she retired 23 years ago.
Born in Fords, NJ, Pani Mary resided in Rankin, PA for 30 years before retirement. Pani Mary was a dedicated and loving wife for 64 years. During that time, she was the consummate Orthodox Christian priest’s wife in public life, the right-hand woman supporting her husband in all facets of parish life. She taught Sunday School, baked for bake sales, arranged altar flowers, hand crafted vestments and winding sheets, removed wax from altar covers, baked Prosfora, replaced vigil lights, delivered flowers and meals to shut-ins, visited hospital bound parishioners and friends, took thousands of messages, attended hundreds of church banquets, folded bulletins, counseled parishioners, and on and on.
Predeceased by her husband, the Very Reverend Peter Buletza, Pani Mary is survived by her six devoted children, Peter Buletza and wife, Cherie, of Ipswich, MA, Victoria Dean and husband, Larry, of Westlake, OH, Paul Buletza and wife, Barbara, of Boynton Beach, FL , Mary Buletza and husband, Archpriest Gary Breton, of Point Pleasant Beach, John Buletza and wife, Monica, of Point Pleasant, and Dr. Catherine Buletza of Wellington, FL, and her loving 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at Orthodox Christian Church of the Annunciation, 360 Van Zile Road, Brick NJ. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Orthodox Burial Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Church. Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at St. John’s Orthodox Church Cemetery in Perth Amboy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pani Mary’s name to Orthodox Christian Church of the Annunciation.
