JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that + Very Rev. Fr. Edward Michael Macura reposed in the Lord on Saturday December 18 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, CT.

Fr. Michael was born in Bridgeport on October 4, 1954, to the late John and Katherine (Bradac) Macura and was a longtime area resident. He was a graduate of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Seminary and Marywood University. Fr. Michael was a Major in the United States Army for 20 years and served as a Chaplain. He was deployed to Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Following his military service, he was the Rector of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Silver Lane, Stratford, for 17 years.

Survivors include his beloved sons, Nicholas Macura of Pennsylvania, Timothy Macura and his wife Katrina of New Jersey, and Alexander Macura of Pennsylvania; their mother, Tanya Yerkes; and his cherished granddaughter, Leila.

Funeral arrangements are as follows: 

Wednesday Dec 22, 10 AM   Vesting of Father Michael at Adzima’s Funeral Home
Wednesday Dec 22,  3 PM     Body received at St. John Church, Mill Hill Avenue, Bridgeport, CT with singing of the Panachida. 4 PM to 5 PM   Visitation and Viewing & 5 PM  The Priest’s Funeral Service

Thursday Dec 23 - 10:00 AM - Divine Liturgy with interment to follow at St. John The Baptist Church Cemetery, Stratford, CT.   

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Fr. Michael's behalf to the Kidney Cancer Association.                           

May Almighty God grant Eternal Rest in Blessed Repose to His newly-departed servant, the Priest Michael, who has fallen asleep, in the Heavenly Mansions, where there is neither sickness, sorrow or pain, but Life Everlasting, and make his memory to be eternal!  Vicnaja jemu pamjat!
