Eternal Memory: + Very Rev. Fr. Michael Miklos

JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that + Very Rev. Fr. Michael Miklos,  reposed in the Lord on January 2, 2025 at the age of 85.

Father Michael was born on December 3, 1939 to Michael and Anna Miklos in Wilpen, PA. He grew up in Rankin PA and entered the Air Force after graduating in 1957. He served 21 years and earned the rank of Master Sargent & was a Master Instructor  in bomb navigation and retired in 1978.

After retirement, he became a computer engineer at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA. He later owned an electronics shop in Brooksville, FL.

In 1982 he was ordained a Deacon in Spring Hill, FL and then two years later was ordained a Priest. His priestly vocation of 40 years was served in Spring Hill, FL, Melbourne, FL, Rockford, IL, Jenners, PA, Elkhorn and Bluefield, both of W. VA and Palm Bay FL and was characterized by faithfulness to our Diocese. Father Michael also served as Dean of the Florida Deanery. 

His years of public service included Boy Scout leader, volunteer firefighter, food pantry and thrift store boards and prison ministry. He also led 10 mission trips through OCMC (the Orthodox Christian Mission Center) to Africa. This was the favorite endeavor of his life.

Father Michael is survived by his loving wife, Pani Karen Miklos of 61 years, son John Miklos and his wife Nancy and two granddaughters Rain and Meadow Miklos all from Orlando Florida, sister Patricia Vargo of Pittsburgh, PA, brother Gerald Miklos of San Marco, CA, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The service and viewing will be held at Saint Simeon Orthodox Church 3175 Satterfield Rd., Titusville FL 32780.

Jan 8th, 2025 viewing 1-2pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2pm

Jan 9th viewing 9-10am followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10am

Jan 10th Burial Cape Canaveral National Cemetery- time: TBD

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Simeon Orthodox Church of Titusville, FL. The donations will be forwarded to OCMC and used as part of a well project in Africa, something that was close to Fr. Michael’s heart. 

The faithful are kindly asked to remember in prayer the newly departed  Fr. Michael, and Pani Karen, their children John and Janet, and their whole family.
