Eternal Memory: + Pani Joan Mahler

JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] - With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Pani Joan Mahler, the wife of the Rev. Fr. Daniel Mahler reposed in the Lord on Saturday December 28, 2024 

Pani Joan Susanne Mahler, age 80, was born on October 3, 1944, in Bridgeport, CT to Michael and Anna (Kranjak) Sovich.  

Pani Joan is remembered by her husband, Rev. Daniel Mahler, as being the most wonderful wife, for the best 58 years of his life. She was an amazing mother to her three beautiful children and raised them with kindness and love. They will miss her dearly. Pani Joan worked hard all her life—at home and within her church community. Joan's spirituality found a home in St. Mary's Orthodox Church, where her husband Rev. Daniel Mahler serves as Priest. As a devoted member, her presence was a constant source of comfort and support to the parish members.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Daniel Mahler; son, Ralph (Jennifer) Mahler; daughter, Rochelle Hickey; and grandchildren, Laurel, Andrew, and Chad Mahler. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and by her beloved son, Michael Mahler.

Visitation on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 4-6 p.m, with the Parastas Service at 6:00 pm at St Mary's Orthodox Church,  61 Canada Rd, Painted Post, NY

Visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 5-6 p.m. in The Carpatho- Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Panachida at 6:00 p.m.

A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Church Mill Hill Ave Bridgeport.

May Almighty God Grant Rest Eternal and Blessed Repose to  His Newly Departed Servant + Pani Joan and May Her Memory Be Eternal!
