JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that + Deacon Robert Conjelko, reposed in the Lord peacefully on Wednesday March 26, 2025
Fr. Deacon Robert was born on January 23, 1935 in Windber, son of the late Stephen and Anna (Chupinka) Conjelko. He was preceded in death by sister, Doreen Ann Conjelko; also by his brother, Charles E. Conjelko.
Fr. Deacon Robert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosaline “Rose” (Kaniuk) Conjelko; children, Gregory S. Conjelko married to Cathy; Very Rev. Matthew W. Conjelko married to Mary-Margaret; and Susan M. (Conjelko) married to Ken Mesko; cherished grandchildren, Anna E. Mesko, Matthew Conjelko married to Erica; Margaret A. Conjelko, Maksym R. Conjelko; and Marina E. Conjelko; sister, Roberta Studniary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fr. Deacon Robert was a graduate of Windber Area High School and a proud U.S. Army veteran having served two deployments with the 7th Infantry in Korea. He was a valued member of the Windber community owning and operating Conjelko’s Dairy store and Ice service and serving as past President of the Mid-Atlantic Ice Association.
Deacon Robert was a man of great faith. He was ordained to the diaconate on October 19, 2003 and was assigned to SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Windber, where he was a long-standing Board member, choir director for 30 years and cantor for 25 years. Fr. Deacon Robert also served as President of the United Churches of Windber for many years.
Fr. Deacon Robert was a gifted Pilot, enjoying many flights in his Piper Cub and was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol. He loved watching football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Fr. Deacon Robert will be missed by his many friends in the Windber community and by his loving family.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Sunday March 30, 2025: Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber, PA, with the Panachida service taking place at 6:30pm.
Monday March 31, 2025: Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 am at SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church of Windber. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am Committal with military honors by the Windber VFW will follow at the Church cemetery.
May Almighty God grant blessed repose and rest eternal to his faithful servant, the newly-reposed Deacon Robert and render eternal his memory, Vicnaja Jemu Pamjat!
