JOHNSTOWN, PA -- On Sunday September 11, 2011 Diocesan parishes throughout the U.S.A. will remember offer special prayers during Divine Liturgy in remembrance of the 10th Anniversary of the 911 tragedy. For those parishes observing the Julian Calendar, the solemnity and sorrow of this day will be placed within the context of the Feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, which is traditionally observed in fasting and intensified prayer.

Miloro in behalf of the Diocesan Consistory, with the Blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of America, Locum Tenens, issued the following update and appeal for assistance for the Parish communities of Manville and Rahway, NJ who experienced severe flooding and property damage: Very Reverend and Reverend Fathers and Faithful: None of us need to be reminded of the devastation that Hurricane Irene brought as the storm moved up the east coast last weekend. Thank God we have received no reports of the loss of life in any of our churches.

Thomas Hopko speaking on "Orthodoxy and Homosexuality." The Symposium will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Cicero, IL, from 9 am to 1:30 pm. The scope of this Symposium is a frank presentation about homosexuality as an issue of Orthodox faith and life facing the faithful.
