Construction of New Church in Hermitage Pa Underway
HERMITAGE, PA - Construction is underway in Hermitage, PA on the New St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church. Having recently sold their church complex in Sharon, PA , the faithful of St. John's Parish look forward to parish growth and revitalization in their new parish complex. 2012 ACRY Convention to Be Held In Johnstown Labor Day Weekend
JOHNSTOWN, PA [National ACRY] --- The 68th Annual Senior and 29th Junior ACRY Convention will be held in Johnstown, PA, from Friday, August 31st to Monday, September 3rd hosted by Chapter 20 and the Christ the Saviour Cathedral family. The convention hotel is the Holiday Inn in downtown Johnstown, where we have received an excellent rate. The committee has planned a fun-filled convention with some surprises.

Diocesan Faithful Gather In Taylor PA To Meet Fr. Grigorios
JOHNSTOWN, PA [Diocesan Chancery] On Tuesday June 19, 2012, the clergy and faithful of the diocese in the eastern sector of the diocese gathered at St. George's Orthodox Church in Taylor, PA for the celebration of the Supplication Service to the Most Holy-Mother of God. In attendance at the service was Very Rev. Archimandrite Grigorios (Tatsis) a candidate for ruling Bishop of the Diocese. At the conclusion of the service, Fr. Grigorios gave an inspiring homily that reflected on the need for personal spiritual growth, and the necessity for witnessing to the beauty and truth of Orthodoxy in the arena of contemporary culture.

Family Day 2012 Marks Beginning of Camping Season
MERCER, PA -- The 2012 Camping Season was ushered in today with the celebration of Family Day at Camp Nazareth. The day began with the celebration of Divine Liturgy by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Diocesan Chancellor and members of the Diocesan Consistory and priests of the surrounding deaneries. The Very Rev. Archimandrite Grigorios Tatsis of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New Orleans was the guest homilist. Following Liturgy, a new shrine to St. Nectarios, erected in honor and memory of Metropolitan Nicholas was blessed as was the newly renovated and expanded Camp Director's residence.

OCF Launches First Forty Days Program To Connect With Incoming College Freshmen
Brookline, MA -- The Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) the official campus ministry of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in North and Central America, has launched an exciting new program to reach out to incoming first-year Orthodox college students at colleges and universities throughout North America, named The First Forty Days. As its name implies, during the first forty days of the 2012 fall semester, local OCF student leaders and chaplains will work to make personal contact with all new incoming students.

Help St. John the Compassionate Mission Continue Its Ministry
JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocesan Chancery has received word from Deacon Pawel Mucha from our Diocesan St. John the Compassionate Mission in Toronto, that the City of Toronto is about to impose garbage collection charges on non-profit agencies such as St John's. This will cost the mission thousands of dollars. This will seriously impact the mission's ability to continue to operate. They are asking for our help!

Diocesan Board of Trustees Meets
The spring meeting of the Diocesan Board of Trustees was held on May 10 at the Chancery in Johnstown. Chancellor Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro chaired the meeting. All trustees were present. The Trustees heard financial reports and operations reports on the institutions and activities of the Diocese.

Seminarians Attend 12th Annual Sts Cyril and Methodius Lecture
ALLISON PARK, PA -- On Monday May 7, 2012, the seminarians from Christ the Saviour Seminary, accompanied by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Seminary Dean, attended the 12th Annual Saints Cyril and Methodius Lecture at the Kearns Spirituality Center, situated on the campus of La Roche College in Allison Park, PA. Sponsored by Sts Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary, the lecture was delivered by Dr. Lewis J. Patsavos, Professor Emeritus of Canon Law at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.
