Diocesan Altar Boy Retreat Begins Sunday
JOHNSTOWN, PA -- Final preparations are being made for the Diocesan Altarboy retreat which will take place here, at Christ the Saviour Cathedral and Seminary, beginning Sunday June 27, 2010 and concluding Wednesday June 30, 2010.
According to The Very Rev. Fr. David Cochran, the coordinator of the Annual Altarboy Retreat Program, the total number of expected participants is nearing 90.
The Annual Altarboy retreat program has been in existence for over 50 years and was conceived to recognize the dedicated service of our diocesan altarboys and encourage vocations to the Holy Priesthood. This year, the participants will be studying the life of the Old Testament Joseph, as being a type of Jesus Christ. In addition to participating in interactive learning programs, Clergy rap sessions, Plain Chant singing class and participating in Divine Liturgy, the altarboys will enjoy swimming, sports and a barbeque at Sts Peter and Paul Church in Windber and will travel to Idlewile Amusement Park.
Diocesan faithful are cordially invited to view the live broadcast of the 9:00 am Divine Liturgy on Tuesday June 29, 2010 where the responses will be sung by the altarboys. http://www.acrod.org/organizations/cathedral/live. Follow the retreat events by viewing the daily photo gallery
