Eternal Memory: Deacon James Janiec
JOHNSTOWN, PA -- With a heavy heart, the Diocesan Chancery wishes to announce that +DEACON JAMES JANIEC reposed in the Lord on Monday March 24, 2014 shortly after entering into hospice care.
Deacon James, a parishioner of Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa on August 28, 2013, the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God at Christ The Saviour Cathedral. Since his ordination to the Diaconate, Deacon James was assigned to St. Mary's Church in Jenners, PA to care for the faithful there in the absence of a resident priest, which he faithfully did with much joy, serving the people there to the very end.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
Thursday, March 27 - visitation at Christ the Saviour Cathedral from 6-8 PM, with Parastas at 6 PM, presided over by His Grace, Bishop Gregory and area Orthodox clergy.
Friday, March 28 - visitation at the Cathedral from 9-10 AM, with Funeral Service at 10 AM, presided over by His Grace, Bishop Gregory and area Orthodox clergy.
Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Westmont
May Almighty God rest the soul of His newly departed servant, Deacon James in the abode of the saints, where there is neither sickness, sorrow nor pain, but life-everlasting. May His Memory Be Eternal!
