Eternal Memory: Michael Chalachan
JOHNSTOWN, PA - The Diocesan Chancery offers its sincere condolences on the recent falling asleep in the Lord of +Michael Chalachan, the father of Pani Linda Kadlec.
Michael Chalachan, 93, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his home.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna in 2002, his brothers, Peter and Andrew.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pani Linda and Very Rev. Thomas Kadlec of Cheektowaga; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Robin Chalachan of Endicott; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Kris) Kadlec, Jessica Kadlec and her fiancé Timothy, Katherine (Christopher) Lund, Rachael Chalachan; two great grandchildren, Jonah and Ethan Kadlec; a brother, Joseph Chalachan; a niece and several nephews.
He was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Church in Binghamton, NY, working at the Recreation Center carving turkeys for many weddings and serving on many church committees.
He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre with the 33rd Infantry being awarded a Silver Star for his bravery in the battle of Luzon.
He was a retired employee of the E-J Corporation, Johnson City after forty years of service and worked with his wife, Anna, cleaning St. Michael’s Church for seven years after.
The Divine Liturgy and Funeral Service was concelebrated by Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko and Very Rev. Thomas Kadlec on Friday Nov 1 at St Michael’s Church. Burial was in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery.
Diocesan faithful are asked to remember + Michael in their prayers.
