Diocesan Parishes Sustain Damage From Hurricane Irene
JOHNSTOWN, PA -- Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Diocesan Chancellor, has issued the following statement regarding property damage to diocesan parishes of Rahway and Manville, New Jersey from Hurricane Irene:
Dear Fathers and Faithful:
We have received a Hurricane Irene property damage report from Fr. Dean Michael Rosco regarding parishes in his Deanery. The Rahway and Manville rectories and churches have basements that are completely flooded. The concern at this moment is that the first floors in those structures are dangerously close to sustaining water damage later today. Total damage assessments will not be available for days; however, at this time, manpower will be needed next week once the waters have receded. We are requesting clean-up assistance from parishioners in New Jersey parishes. Pastors are asked to contact Fr. Rosco for direction.
We are also asking pastors of parishes in other deaneries to contact their deans with any hurricane/flood related needs. The Chancery will co-ordinate assistance with the deans.
We ask all of you to continue in holding up our people and parishes in your prayers
