Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers Hosted By Sts Peter and Paul Church in Windber
WINDBER, PA -- On Sunday, March 24, 2013, clergy from multiple jurisdictions in the Greater Johnstown Area took part in the Sunday Of Orthodoxy Vespers Service hosted by Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Windber, PA. The Very Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Frank Miloro, dean of Christ the Saviour Cathedral was the main celebrant for the service. Assisting the clergy were seminarians from Christ the Saviour Seminary and parish acolytes. A combined choir composed of members from the area Orthodox Churches sang the reposes to the service as well as sing hymns before and after the service under the direction of Michael Kokus. Portions of the service were sung in in the traditional Prostopinije chant, as led by parish cantor Andrew Single.
Professor John Mavrodis of Christ the Saviour Seminary in Johnstown was the guest speaker for the event. John emphasized both the theological and historical nature of the celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.
The host parish provided a lenten meal following the service in the parish hall.
