A Reflection On the Commencement of the Church School Year
The New Church School Year is underway in most of our diocesan parishes. Our church school teachers and parents are to be commended for their participation and involvement in the spiritual formation of our youth for in the words of St. Theophan the Recluse a 19th Century Russian Saint, “Of all holy works, the education of children is the most holy.”
In our modern fast paced society, the parish Church School Program faces many challenges, and fierce competition from other activities and programs which compete for our children's attention. Our children and their parents face enormous pressure, to seek first the things of the world rather than the things of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is the mission of the Church to help our parents and our youth to maintain the proper balance in life - "rendering unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's"
We invite you to listen to a thought-provoking and uplifting reflection delivered by our Diocesan Chancellor, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, who shares his pastoral wisdom regarding this age old-struggle.
